Louis Vicat, a French Scientist, invented cement 200 years ago and his son joseph created the first cement plant in 1853. Today Vicat is still managed by the 7th generation of direct descendants from Louis Vicat and it is a multinational company with presence in 11 countries.
In India, Vicat is present under the brand Bharathi. The DNA of the Vicat is present in the company and the product with values of innovation, quality, service as well as corporate social and environmental responsibility.

The
Vicat Company, France in 1817, Louis Vicat invented the artificial cement. In 1853, his son – Joseph Vicat established the first cement plant in France. Today Vicat is present in
Italy, Switzerland, USA, Turkey, Egypt, Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, Kazakhstan and India.
These include the materials & micro structures laboratory which analyzes materials, the sigma concrete laboratory which measures, formulates, checks concrete & aggregates and the formulation laboratory for industrial construction products which develops mixes for building finishes.
Kalburgi Cement
A 100% owned subsidiary of Vicat Group in India. The company was established in 2008. Kalburgi Cement has a product capacity of over 2.75 MTPA. Bharathi Cement is served primarily in 3 states i.e. Maharashtra, North Karnataka and Telangana from this location.
Bharathi Cement
A joint venture with Vicat, France, a global leader in cement, steered by global expertise, the company is driven by a team of senior professionals from power, cement & infrastructure. Bharathi Cement produces cement of superior quality with an installed capacity of 5 MTPA.
